Our Imam

Mufti Abid Hassan has been in the Regent Park area of Toronto since 2002. He memorized the Quran at age 12 and soon after enrolled in Al-Rashid Islamic Institute, situated near Cornwall, Ontario.

He spent 9 years at this renowned institution, completing a 2-year intensive Quran review course and a 7-year Alimiyyah program. His studies culminated in a Masters degree in Islamic sciences, covering subjects such as Arabic, Tafsīr (exegesis), Hadīth (prophetic traditions), and Fiqh (jurisprudence). He earned authorizations in Hadith under the principal and senior lecturer of Hadith in al-Rashid Islamic Institute, Moulana Mazhar Alam.

After graduating with honors from the Alimiyyah program in 2019, Mufti Abid Hassan traveled to South Africa to pursue a 2-year course to specialize in the field of issuing legal verdicts (iftaa). He now holds a jurisprudence authorization (ifta) from Darul Uloom Zakariyya (South Africa), earned under the guidance of the Grand Mufti of South Africa, Mufti Radha-ul-Haq.
